Tribes and Leaders by Armies



1 And the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying:

2 Every man of the children of Israel will camp by his own standard,

with the ensign of his father's house.

Facing the tent of meeting they will camp.

3 (Ru 4:20; 1Ch 2:10) On the east side toward the rising of the sun

the standard of the camp of Judah will camp throughout their armies,

and Nahshon the son of Amminadab will be captain of the children of Judah.

4 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 74600 .

5 (Nu 1:8; 7:18) Those who camp next to him will be the tribe of Issachar,

and Nethanel the son of Zuar will be captain of the children of Issachar.

6 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 54400 .

7 (Nu 1:9) Then comes the tribe of Zebulun, and Eliab the son of Helon

will be captain of the children of Zebulun.

8 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 57400.

9 (Nu 10:14) All who were numbered throughout the armies

in the camp of Judah were one hundred and 86400. They will march out first.

10 (Nu 1:5) On the south side will be the standard of the camp of Reuben

according to their armies, and the captain of the children of Reuben

will be Elizur the son of Shedeur.

11 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 46500 .

12 (Nu 1:6) Those who camp by him will be the tribe of Simeon,

and the captain of the children of Simeon will be Shelumiel

the son of Zurishaddai.

13 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 59300 .

14 (Nu 1:14; 7:42) Then comes the tribe of Gad,

and the captain of the sons of Gad will be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.

15 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 45650.

16 (Nu 10:18) All who were numbered in the camp of Reuben

were 151450, throughout their armies.

And they will set out in the second rank.

17 (Nu 10:21; 10:17) Then the tent of meeting will set out

with the camp of the Levites in the middle of the camp.

As they camp, so they will set out, every man in his place by their standards.

18 (Nu 1:10; 10:22) On the west side will be the standard

of the camp of Ephraim according to their armies,

and the captain of the sons of Ephraim will be Elishama the son of Ammihud.

19 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 40500.

20 (Nu 1:10) By him will be the tribe of Manasseh,

and the captain of the children of Manasseh will be

Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

21 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 32200.

22 (Nu 1:11) Then comes the tribe of Benjamin, and the captain

of the sons of Benjamin will be Abidan the son of Gideoni.

23 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 35400.

24 (Nu 10:22) All who were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were 108100,

throughout their armies. And they will go out in the third rank.

25 (Nu 1:12) The standard of the camp of Dan will be on the north side

by their armies, and the captain of the children of Dan will be Ahiezer

the son of Ammishaddai.

26His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 62700.

27 (Nu 1:13) Those who camp by him will be the tribe of Asher,

and the captain of the children of Asher will be Pagiel the son of Okran.

28 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 41500.

29 (Nu 1:15) Then the tribe of Naphtali,

and the captain of the children of Naphtali will be Ahira the son of Enan.

30 His host, and those who were numbered of them, were 53400 .

31 (Nu 10:25) All they who were numbered in the camp of Dan were 157600.

They will set out in the back with their standards.

32 (Nu 1:46; Ex 38:26) These are those who were numbered of the children

of Israel by the house of their fathers. All those who were numbered

of the camps throughout their hosts were 603550.

33 But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel,

as the Lord commanded Moses.

34 (Nu 24:2; 24:5-6) The children of Israel did according to all

that the Lord commanded Moses. So they camped by their standards,

and so they set out, each one after his family,

according to their fathers' houses.

congregation shall they pitch.

[3] And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the

standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the

son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah.

[4] And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and

fourteen thousand and six hundred.

[5] And those that do pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar:

and Nethaneel the son of Zuar shall be captain of the children of Issachar.

[6] And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four

thousand and four hundred.

[7] Then the tribe of Zebulun: and Eliab the son of Helon shall be captain

of the children of Zebulun.

[8] And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and seven

thousand and four hundred.

[9] All that were numbered in the camp of Judah were an hundred thousand and

fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, throughout their

armies. These shall first set forth.

[10] On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according

to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur

the son of Shedeur.

[11] And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were forty and six

thousand and five hundred.

[12] And those which pitch by him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the

captain of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

[13] And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine

thousand and three hundred.

[14] Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be

Eliasaph the son of Reuel.

[15] And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and five

thousand and six hundred and fifty.

[16] All that were numbered in the camp of Reuben were an hundred thousand

and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, throughout their

armies. And they shall set forth in the second rank.

[17] Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp

of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they encamp, so shall they set

forward, every man in his place by their standards.

[18] On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according

to their armies: and the captain of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama

the son of Ammihud.

[19] And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand

and five hundred.

[20] And by him shall be the tribe of Manasseh: and the captain of the

children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

[21] And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two

thousand and two hundred.

[22] Then the tribe of Benjamin: and the captain of the sons of Benjamin

shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni.

[23] And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and

five thousand and four hundred.

[24] All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were an hundred thousand

and eight thousand and an hundred, throughout their armies. And they shall

go forward in the third rank.

[25] The standard of the camp of Dan shall be on the north side by their

armies: and the captain of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of

Ammishaddai.

[26] And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and

two thousand and seven hundred.

[27] And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the

captain of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran.

[28] And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and one

thousand and five hundred.

[29] Then the tribe of Naphtali: and the captain of the children of Naphtali

shall be Ahira the son of Enan.

[30] And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and

three thousand and four hundred.

[31] All they that were numbered in the camp of Dan were an hundred thousand

and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred. They shall go hindmost with

their standards.

[32] These are those which were numbered of the children of Israel by the

house of their fathers: all those that were numbered of the camps throughout

their hosts were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred

and fifty.

[33] But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the

LORD commanded Moses.

[34] And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded

Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every

one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.

on the first day of the second month, and they declared their

pedigrees according to their families, by the house of their fathers,

according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward,

by their polls.

19 As the Lord commanded Moses,

so he numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai.

20 (Nu 26:5-7; 2:10-11) The children of Reuben, the oldest son of Israel,

by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers,

according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male

from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war,

47 (Nu 2:33; 3:1-4:49) But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers

were not numbered among them.

48 For the Lord had spoken to Moses, saying:

49 (Nu 26:62) Only you will not number the tribe of Levi,

nor take the census of them among the children of Israel,

50 (Ex 38:21; 31:18; Nu 4:15) but you will appoint the Levites over the tent

of the testimony, and over all its vessels,

and over all things that belong to it. They will carry the tabernacle,

and all its vessels, and they will minister to it,

and will camp around the tabernacle.

51 (Nu 3:38; 3:10) When the tabernacle sets out, the Levites will take it down,

and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites will set it up,

and the foreigner that approaches will be put to death.

every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard,

throughout their armies.

53 (Nu 16:46; Lev 10:6) But the Levites will camp around the tabernacle

of the testimony, so there will be no wrath on the congregation

of the children of Israel. And the Levites will keep the charge

of the tabernacle of the testimony.

54 Thus the children of Israel did according

to all that the Lord commanded Moses.

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.



Please join us in praying for:

- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially

in their faith and the Church.

- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their

not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.

- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.

- for current and new workers among Muslims in these growing Muslim

in these growing Muslim population centres.

Pray for the Amazigh



The Amazigh are the indigenous peoples of North Africa, who have lived in the

land thousands of years before the Arab migration that brought Islam to the

region in the mid-7th century. Interestingly, it is likely that St. Augustine

of Hippo was, himself, Amazigh.



In their language, Tamazight, Amazigh or Imazighen (plural)

means 'free people.' While they are often known as Berbers in the west, this

term carries a negative connotation and is rejected by the Amazigh.



The Amazigh, like many indigenous peoples around the world, experience racism

and degradation. They live on the margins of a society that is predominantly

Arab. They have lighter skin and dress more colorfully than the majority.





Badida has experienced this rejection. She and her husband love Jesus and want

to tell others about him. But instead of staying in their Amazigh community,

they live and work among Arabs who take Islamic rules much more strictly. This

means that their children are bullied at school. And when Badida goes for a

walk, strangers shout insults at her.



But Badida is not intimidated. She treats those who look down on her with love

and compassion. She tells others about Jesus, and many of them have since

become her friends. She leads courses through which people can process their

trauma and supplements this with pastoral care. She is a role model, both

for the Arabs and for other Amazigh believers, who are constantly amazed

by her courage and openness.

How to Pray



Pray for Badida and her family to know the care and comfort of the Lord as

they serve Him.



Pray for Gospel resources to be available in the various Tamazight

dialects, particularly audio resources.



Ask God to provide the resources so that radio broadcasts can reach

the Amazigh in the mountains where there is no cell phone signal.



Pray for many more Amazigh people to become Jesus-followers like Badida.



My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

8 ) Prayer and Fasting



When hunger Tunes the Heart



Intro



Scripture: Acts 13:2–3



2 (Ac 9:15; 2Ti 1:11) As they worshipped the Lord and fasted,

the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work

to which I have called them."

3 (Ac 6:6; 14:26) Then after fasting and praying, they laid their hands

on them and sent them off.



[1] Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and

teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of

Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and

Saul.

[2] As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said,

Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

[3] And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they

sent them away.

The church in Antioch was already healthy, diverse, and active. Leaders were

teaching. Worship was happening. Ministry momentum was real. And yet - while

they were fasting - the Holy Spirit spoke with clarity and authority.



This is the first thing to notice: fasting didn't create God's voice; it

clarified it. And it wasn't a special event or emergency response. Fasting

was a way of life-woven into their normal rhythm of worship and devotion.

It was part of how they lived before God.



Scripture doesn't say the Spirit finally decided to speak once they were

hungry. It says that in the posture of fasting, the church was attentive

enough to hear what God was already eager to say.



And what did the Spirit say? Not a vague encouragement—but a clear calling:

“Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

Direction. Assignment. Mission.



Fasting doesn't just sharpen spiritual hearing; it clarifies purpose. It

aligns us with heaven's agenda rather than asking God to bless ours. In

Antioch, fasting preceded commissioning. Surrender came before sending.



As we begin these 21 days of Prayer and Fasting, this is our posture: not

striving to get God's attention, but intentionally giving Him ours.



So today, we ask together: Holy Spirit, speak clearly-shape who we are

becoming, and direct us to those You are sending us to reach.

1 John 4:16-21



16 (1Jn 3:24; 3:1) And we have come to know and to believe the love

that God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

17 (1Jn 2:5; 2:28) In this way God's love is perfected in us, so that we may

have boldness on the Day of Judgment, because as He is, so are we

in this world.

18 (Ro 8:15; 2Ti 1:7) There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out

fear, because fear has to do with punishment. Whoever fears is not perfect

in love.

19 (1Jn 4:10; Lk 7:47) We love Him because He first loved us.

20 (1Jn 2:4; 3:17) If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother,

he is a liar. For whoever does not love his brother whom he has seen,

how can he love God whom he has not seen?

21 (1Jn 3:11; Lev 19:18) We have this commandment from Him:

Whoever loves God must also love his brother.



[16] And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is

love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

[17] Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day

of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

[18] There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because

Woody Cooper stood in the loud mob the day Dorothy Counts, a Black girl,

enrolled in his all-White high school in North Carolina. Taunting her, some

boys yelled racial slurs and threw trash at Dorothy, but Woody didn't rebuke

them, even staying silent when a woman cried out, "Spit on her, girls!" He

later asked himself, Why didn't you at least say something? She was just

another student coming to school. Haunted for decades by his sin of omission,

especially after seeing himself in a news photo from that day, Woody finally

reached out to Dorothy forty-nine years later to apologise.



As Woody learned, showing love and support for another human being isn't just

being brave; it's also making a choice to be like Jesus. John the apostle

taught this lesson to churches burdened by false teaching about Christ

and His love.



"We love because He first loved us," John wrote. "Whoever claims to love God

yet hates a brother or sister is a liar" (1 John 4:19-20). John recalled this

great command: "Anyone who loves God must

also love their brother and sister" (v. 21).



Woody and Dorothy reflected that love as they became close friends. They spoke

at churches and schools together. On the night before he died, she came to see

him. "I loved him," she said, "and I know that he loved me." That's the Jesus

way. It can be our way too, as God brings us together in His transforming

love.

When Judy Garland stepped onstage, she filled the spotlight. Nothing was

illuminated but her face, and as she sang, her listeners had a sense of being

transported beyond themselves into the meaning of her song. The focus of

reality, at that moment, was "Judy", and everything else faded into the dim

recesses of the shadowed room. The spotlight brought her into sharp focus

as the center of attention, and all around her was darkness.

When the scriptures speaks of Jesus as "the light," the image is not

of thousands of blazing bulbs lighting up a football field for a night game.

Rather, he is like a hand-help lamp that throws a circle of light in the

immediate vicinity. such a lamp lights the path that a traveler will walk,

but lights it only one step at a time.

Jesus is the center of that circle of light. As we follow him, we share the

light, but he is always at center. Jesus Christ is the focal point,

and everything else fades into dim gray by comparison.

If we are to keep our lives illuminated, to have his light falling upon the

road we walk, we must stay close to him. Jesus does not hand the lamp

to us and suggest that we go the way he wants; he , the Light, leads,

and if we want to stay in the light, we follow.

LEVITICUS 27



Laws About Vows



1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

2 (Nu 6:2; Dt 23:21-23) Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them:

When a man makes a special vow to the Lord based on the equivalent value

(Shorthand for the formula in Lev 5:15.) of persons,

3 (Ex 30:13; Lev 27:25) then the equivalent value of a male

from twenty to sixty years old shall be fifty shekels

(About 11/4 pounds, or 575 grams; and in v. 16.) of silver,

according to the sanctuary shekel. (About 2/5 ounce, or 12 grams;

and in v. 25.)

4 If the person is a female, then the equivalent value shall be

thirty shekels. (About 12 ounces, or 345 grams.)

5 If the person is five to twenty years old, then the equivalent value

shall be twenty shekels (About 8 ounces, or 230 grams.) for a male

and ten shekels (About 4 ounces, or 115 grams; and in v. 7.) for a female.

6 If the person is one month to five years old,

then the equivalent value shall be five shekels

(About 2 ounces, or 58 grams.)

for a male and three shekels (About 1 1/4 ounces, or 35 grams.)

of silver for a female.

7 If the person is sixty years old or older, then the equivalent

value shall be fifteen shekels (About 6 ounces, or 175 grams.)

for a male and ten shekels for a female.

8 (Lev 14:21-22) But if he is too poor to afford the equivalent value,

then he shall present himself before the priest and the priest shall

set his value. According to what the person making the vow can afford,

so the priest shall set his value.

9 And if it be an animal, of which men bring an offering to the Lord,

all that any man gives of such to the Lord shall be holy.

10 He shall not exchange it nor substitute it, good for bad or bad for good.

If he in fact substitutes an animal for another, then both it

and its substitute shall be holy.

11 If it is any sort of unclean animal that is not permitted as an offering

to the Lord, then he shall present the animal before the priest.

12 And the priest shall set its value, whether good or bad;

according to the equivalent value set by the priest, so shall it be.

13 (Lev 27:15; 27:19) But if he plans on redeeming it,

then he shall add one-fifth to the equivalent value.

14 When a man consecrates his house as holy to the Lord, then the priest

shall set its value, whether good or bad, according to the equivalent value

set by the priest, so shall it be established.

15 (Lev 27:13) If he who consecrates the house should redeem it,

then he shall add one-fifth to its equivalent value, and it shall be his.

16 If a man shall consecrate to the Lord some of his land,

then the equivalent value shall be according to the seed

needed to sow it: fifty shekels of silver per homer

(Likely about 300 pounds, or 135 kilograms. of barley seed.

17 If he consecrates his field from the Year of Jubilee,

the equivalent value shall stay fixed,

18 (Lev 25:15-16) but if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee,

then the priest shall calculate for him the price according to the years

that remain until the next Year of Jubilee, and the equivalent value

shall be reduced.

19 And if he who consecrated the field plans on redeeming it,

then he shall add one-fifth to the equivalent value,

and it will be established as his.

20 If he does not redeem the field,

but rather sells the field to another man,

it may not be redeemed again.

21 (Eze 44:29; Nu 18:14; Lev 25:10) But when the field is released

in the Jubilee, it shall be holy to the Lord as a devoted field;

it shall become the possession of the priest.

22 (Lev 25:10; 25:25) If a man consecrates to the Lord a field

that he purchased, which is not part of his land property,

23 (Lev 27:18) then the priest shall calculate for him

the amount of the valuation, up to the Year of Jubilee,

and he shall give your valuation on that day as a holy thing to the Lord.

24 (Lev 25:28) In the Year of Jubilee the field shall return

to the one from whom it was bought,

28 (Jos 6:17-19; Ex 22:20) Anything that a man shall devote to the Lord

from all that he has, whether human, animal, or land, shall not be sold

or redeemed. Every devoted thing is most holy to the Lord.

29 No one devoted of men, who shall be doomed to death,

shall be redeemed; he shall surely be put to death.

30 (Ge 28:22; 14:20) Any tithe of the land, whether seed of the land

or fruit of the trees, belongs to the Lord. It is holy to the Lord.

31 If a man plans on redeeming some of his tithe,

he shall add one-fifth to it.

32 (Jer 33:13; Eze 20:37) Any tithe of herd or flock, all that passes

under the counting staff, the tenth one shall be holy to the Lord.

33 (Lev 27:10) A person shall not differentiate between good or bad,

nor shall he make a substitute for it, but if he does,

then both it and its substitute shall be holy. It shall not be redeemed.

34 (Lev 26:46) These are the commandments that the Lord commanded

Moses for the children of Israel on Mount Sinai.

Punishment for Disobedience



14 (Dt 28:15-68; Mal 2:2) But if you will not listen to Me,

and will not do all these commandments,

15 (2Ki 17:15) if you despise My statutes, or if you abhor My judgments,

so that you will not do all My commandments, but you break My covenant,

16 (Job 31:8; 1Sa 2:33) then I will do this to you: I will visit you

with terror, with wasting disease, and with a fever that shall consume

the eyes and cause sorrow of heart, and you shall sow your seed in vain,

for your enemies shall eat it.

17 (Ps 53:5; Lev 17:10) I will set My face against you, and you shall be

slain before your enemies. They that hate you shall reign over you,

and you shall flee when none pursues you.

18 (Lev 26:21; 26:24) If you will not yet listen to Me after all this,

then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

19 (Dt 28:23; Isa 25:11) I will break the pride of your power,

and I will make your heaven as iron and your land as bronze.

for your land shall not yield her increase,

its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them. They shall make amends

for their iniquity, because they despised My

and because they abhorred My statutes.

their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor will I abhor them

to destroy them utterly and to break My covenant with them,

though they speak against you as evildoers, they shall see your good works

and thereby glorify God in the day of visitation.



[11] Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from

love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets,

that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

B) From manipulatin to trust.

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.



Please join us in praying for:

- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially

Pray for Yemeni Women



In her dust-choked city in Yemen, under the watchful eyes of her in-laws,

Samira lived a life shaped by obedience: to faith, to her husband, to fear.

But with her husband away in the militia, fighting in Yemen's ongoing civil

war, she felt a glimmer of hope because of her phone.



When her children were tucked in around her and asleep, she kept returning to

websites she had found that offered such hope in her own language. With time,

she learned they were from the Bible. The words didn't condemn - they

comforted.



"Come to Me, all who are weary."



Samira found a way to ask questions, and her certainty grew that Jesus was

indeed the Way, the Truth and the Life. She explains that, "what Jesus did,

no one else can do. He raised the dead, healed the sick, and forgave sinners.

This is because he is God manifest in the flesh. Therefore, I followed Him

because there is no salvation apart from Jesus. To Him be all the glory!"



Her phone became a place of fellowship as she learned of others in her city

who were also following Jesus. At first, she only connected with others via

chat, sharing scriptures and prayers. Then several believers found a way to

meet together, in various places and on different days.

Samira is concerned. She knows her in-laws have seen a change in her and are

suspicious. When they follow her, she changes direction and goes to her

parents' house where she quietly and carefully shares the stories of Jesus

with her brother.



How to Pray



Pray for God to intervene in the terrible humanitarian crisis that Yemen

has endured.



Pray for God's Word to reach Yemeni women who have so little access

to the Gospel.



Ask for protection over the tiny, yet growing, Yemeni church.





My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

Author Richard Mouw tells of a Black theologian from South Africa who

struggled with dark memories of life under apartheid. Mouw wrote, "He told a

story about an African child whose teacher asked her to define 'memory.'

After thinking about it, the child said, 'Memory is that thing that helps me

to forget.'" Out of the mouths of babes! Her past held much she didn't want

to recall, so she wanted to remember the good things.



Many carry the scars of terrible, seemingly unforgettable things. But that

child's wisdom offers hope. If we learn to remember better things, those

memories can strengthen us to move forward from our painful past. In Psalm 42,

the psalmist feels like a deer running for its life. However, he also says,

"These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house

of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise

among the festive throng" (v. 4).



The singer's memories of worshiping God encouraged him to praise,

even in the midst of pain. "Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed

within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour a

nd my God" (v. 5). Remembering who our God is—and that we are His - can help

us move beyond the painful past we can't forget.

Misty was only 4 when her parents divorced. Her dad moved away,

and the following summer she went with her grandparents to visit him

in his new apartment. In the swimming pool one afternoon, Grandpa stood

Misty on the side of the pool, held out his arm, and called, "Jump!"

But Misty, normally a little fish, suddenly seemed afraid of the water,

and stood trembling on the sidewalk shaking her head.

"Jump, Misty - I'll catch you!"

"Are you sure, Grandpa?"

"Of course I'm sure! Jump!"

But Misty wouldn't jump. Finally Grandpa, a bit irritated, said, "Misty, do

you think I Won't catch you? Do you think I'll just walk away?"

The tears spilled over, and Misty sobbed. "Daddy did!"

Human support systems often fail us. We disappoint those we love, and

are disappointed by them. People simply aren't there for us

when we need them most.

But God promises that with him things are different. He's always there,

always listening, always caring, always ready to support us.

"Underneath his everlasting arms".

Sometimes those arms reach out clothed in flesh, in the warm embrace

of a loved one. Sometimes they support us through the Word, sometimes through

the quiet peace that comes in prayer. Sometimes we are not aware of them

at all, but they still hold us up, supporting, surrounding, loving.

Underneath us are the everlasting arms.



Application

Redemption of Property

bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile.

[31] But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them

shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and

they shall go out in the jubile.

[32] Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities

of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time.

[33] And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and

the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the

houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children

of Israel.

[34] But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is

their perpetual possession.



Helping the Poor



35 (Dt 15:7-8; Ps 37:26) If your brother becomes poor

and cannot maintain himself with you,

then you shall support him as if he were a foreigner or a sojourner,

so that he may live with you.

36 (Ex 22:25; Dt 23:19-20) Take no usury or interest from him;

but fear your God, so that your brother may live with you.

37 You shall not lend him your money at interest,

nor lend him your food for profit.

38 (Lev 11:45; 22:32-33) I am the Lord your God,

who brought you out of the land of Egypt,

to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.



[35] And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then

The Law About Slavery



39 (Ex 21:2; 1Ki 9:22; Lev 25:46) If your brother who dwells near you

becomes poor and sells himself to you, you shall not compel him to serve

as a bondservant.

40 But as a hired servant and as a sojourner he shall be with you.

He shall serve you until the Year of Jubilee.

both he and his children with him,

and he shall return to his own family

and to the possession of his fathers.

The Tabernacle Lamps



Ex 27:20-21

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

to you pure olive oil beaten for the lamp, to cause the lamps

to burn continually.

3 Outside the veil of the sanctuary,

in the tent of meeting, Aaron shall arrange it continually,

from the evening until the morning before the Lord.

It shall be a perpetual statute in your generations.

4 (Ex 31:8; 39:37) He shall arrange the lamps continually

on the pure gold lampstand before the Lord.



[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

[2] Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive

beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.

[3] Without the vail of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the

congregation, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before

the LORD continually: it shall be a statute for ever in your generations.

[4] He shall order the lamps upon the pure candlestick before the LORD

continually.



The Bread of the Tabernacle



5 (Ex 25:30; 40:23) You shall take wheat flour and bake twelve cakes.

Two-tenths of an ephah (Likely about 7 pounds, or 3.2 kilograms.)

shall be in each cake.

6 (1Ki 7:48; Ex 25:23–24) You shall set them in two rows, six in a row,

on the pure gold table before the Lord.

7 (Lev 2:2) You shall put pure frankincense on each row,

so that it may be on the bread for a memorial,

a food offering made by fire to the Lord.

8 (Nu 4:7; 2Ch 2:4) Every Sabbath he shall set it in order continually

before the Lord, with the portion taken from the children of Israel

by a perpetual covenant.

9 (Lev 8:31; Mt 12:4; Mk 2:26) It shall be for Aaron and his sons,

and they shall eat it in a holy place, for it is most holy to him

of the food offerings of the Lord made by fire by a perpetual statute.

The Punishment for Blasphemy



10 The son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian,

went out among the children of Israel, and this son of the Israelite woman

and a man of Israel fought together in the camp.

11 (Ex 3:15; 18:22) And the Israelite woman's son blasphemed the name

of the Lord and cursed. And they brought him to Moses.

(His mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.)

12 (Ex 18:15-16; Nu 15:34) And they put him in custody,

so that the words of the Lord might be shown to them.

13 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

14 (Dt 17:7; Lev 20:27) Bring outside the camp him who has cursed,

and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head,

and let the entire congregation stone him.

15 (Lev 5:1; Nu 9:13) You shall speak to the children of Israel,

saying: Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin.

him that had cursed out of the camp, and stone him with stones. And the

LEVITICUS 25



The Sabbath Year



1 Then the Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying:

2 (Ex 23:10; Lev 26:34-35) Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them:

When you come into the land that I give you, the land shall keep a sabbath

to the Lord.

3 For six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune

your vineyard and gather in its fruit, 4but in the seventh year there

be a sabbath of complete rest for the land, a sabbath for the Lord.

You shall neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard.

5 (2Ki 19:29; Isa 37:30) That which grows by itself from your harvest

you shall not reap, nor gather the grapes of your unpruned vines,

for it is a year of complete rest for the land.

6 The sabbath produce of the land shall be food for you:

for you, and for your male and female servants, and for your hired servant,

and for your stranger who sojourns with you,

7 and for your livestock, and for the wild animals in your land, shall all

The Year of Jubilee

seven years, and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you

forty-nine years.

9 (Lev 23:24; 23:27) Then you shall sound the horn blasts on the tenth day

of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall make

the sound of the horn throughout all your land.

10 (Jer 34:8; Ex 20:2) You shall consecrate the fiftieth year,

and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all the inhabitants.

It shall be a Jubilee to you, and each of you shall return to his possession,

and every person shall return to his family.

11 That fiftieth year will be

a Jubilee for you. You shall neither sow nor reap that which grows by itself,

nor gather the grapes of your unpruned vines.

12 (Lev 25:6-7) For it is the Jubilee. It shall be holy to you.

You shall eat the produce of the field.

13 (Lev 25:10) In the Year of Jubilee you shall return to your property.

the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the Lord.

made by fire to the Lord. On the eighth day it shall be a holy convocation

In 2023, Kenyan police intervened to end what's being called the

"Shakahola Massacre" - in which hundreds died after following a cult leader's

directions to starve themselves to meet Jesus. The leader had allegedly

promised he too would leave earth in this way after his followers did.

After his arrest, he denied ever teaching this.



The tragedy is a troubling example of how dangerous it is to blindly trust

those claiming to be spiritual leaders. Cult members were so deceived that

they resisted those who came to save them from starvation. One survivor

described getting "addicted" to the leader's teachings.



Jesus Christ is the true leader of those who trust in Him. He loved us so much

He was willing to die for us to have life (1 Thessalonians 5:10). He calls us

to live for Him, "awake and sober" (v. 6) and to test any teaching of others

against His teaching (vv. 20-22).



We respond to Christ's love not by harming ourselves or others but by

"encourag[ing] . . . and build[ing] each other up" (v. 11).

By living "in peace with each other" (v. 13) and striving "to do what is good

for each other and for everyone else" (v. 15). Through daily reliance on

and trust in Christ's Spirit (v. 19), we can live a life of love as we eagerly

await Christ's coming (v. 23).

Week 7 Promises of Grace - Day 6 Humility and Exaltation



1 Peter 5:6-7



6 (Jas 4:10; Mt 23:12) Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God,

that He may exalt you in due time.

"I was so humble I was given an award for humility," the pastor quipped.

"They gave me a humility plaque - but they had to take it back when I hung it

on my office wall."

Humility is rare among 20th Century Christians. Our pride takes two

seemingly contradictory forms: Self-exaltation and self-denial. But both

focus on self, not on God.

Francois Fenelon, 17th century French archbishop, From his

"Letters of Spiritual Counsel" wrote:

"He who so completely forget himself that he never thinks of self ... is

truly humble. If we had the light to discern it, we should see clearly that

when we think we are humbling ourselves we are exalting ourselves;

when we think we are annihilating ourselves we are seeking out own life."

True humility, as Fenelon implies, means recognising who we are in the light

of who God is. Excess of self-importance and low self-esteem are both

self-centered perspectives; true humility is God-centered.

When we humble ourselves, we become intensely aware of God and less

aware of ourselves. We can focus on his face and get our eyes off our own

image. We can stop worrying about how others perceive us. Such humbling

is difficult - as one 70-year-old saint joked, "It ain't the heat that gets

you, it's the humility." But when we submit to him and fell the weight of the

"Mighty hand of God" upon us, we can forget ourselves, abandon

ourselves to his presence, and cast our cares upon him.

It is estimated that Calgary has 82000 Muslims and Edmonton another 50000 .

Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.

Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's

become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.

Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group

coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries

such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.

Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,

emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still

continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our

Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom

they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.



Please join us in praying for:

- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.

- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to

Muslim-background believers.

- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially

in their faith and the Church.

- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their

not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.

- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach.

- for current and new workers among Muslims in these growing Muslim

in these growing Muslim population centres.

Pray for Muslims in Canada



Nadine was born into a devout Muslim family in Canada. Her parents were both

well educated and, on the surface, provided a good life for their two

daughters. But underneath the outward appearances, it was a home full of fear

and domestic violence.



Nadine turned to Islam for comfort, performing not only what was required, but

completing additional acts of devotion. In her senior year of high school, she

travelled to Iraq to take part in a pilgrimage with more than 15 million other

people, walking 80 kilometers to commemorate the martyrdom of the grandson of

the Prophet Mohammed.



Escalating violence in the home caused Nadine to run away when she was 18. In

her despair, she abandoned the faith that had given her no comfort, though she

remained convinced of its truth. When a friend invited her to attend a church,

the experience left her confused and angry, wondering if her entire life had

been a lie.



Covid and its subsequent lockdown, shortly afterwards, meant that Nadine had

time to read and do research. She was impressed by Nabeel Qureshi's book,

No God But One. She reached out to a

Christian online who met with her and challenged her, explaining that since

she had already abandoned her family and Muslim friends, who was left to

abandon her?

When Nadine was out alone on a run one night, she fell to her knees

and confessed Jesus as her Lord and Saviour.



At her baptism, Nadine explained: "I went from being a slave of God to being a

child of God! I have so much joy, that I want to share that joy with the

entire world!"



Now, Nadine is using social media to share Jesus with others, working to reach

some of the 1.8 million Muslims who make up nearly 5% of Canada's population.



How to Pray



Pray that Canadian churches would reach out with intercession

and love to Muslims in their neighbourhoods.



Ask that Christians would open their homes and show hospitality

to Muslim neighbours.



Ask God to draw the families and friends of Muslim background

Believers to Himself.



My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further

call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity

(Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .

The Sabbath

The Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread

holy convocations which you shall proclaim in their appointed times.

5 (Dt 16:1-8; Jos 5:10) On the fourteenth day of the first month

at evening is the Lord's Passover.

is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord.

For seven days you must eat unleavened bread.

Offering the First Fruits



9 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

10 (Ex 23:19; 34:26; Nu 28:26) Speak to the children of Israel,

and say to them: When you have come into the land that I am giving

to you and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf bundle

of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest.

11 (Ex 29:24) And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord

so that you may be accepted. On the day after the Sabbath

the priest shall wave it.

12 (Lev 1:10) You shall offer that day when you wave the sheaf

a year-old male lamb without blemish for a burnt offering to the Lord.

13 (Lev 2:14-16) The grain offering shall be two-tenths of an ephah

(Likely about 7 pounds, or 3.2 kilograms; and in v. 17.)

of wheat flour mixed with oil, a food offering made by fire

to the Lord for a pleasing aroma; its drink offering shall

be of wine, a fourth of a hin. (About 1 quart, or 1 liter.)

14 (Ex 34:26) You shall eat neither bread nor grain, parched or fresh,

until the same day that you have brought an offering to your God.

It shall be a perpetual statute throughout

your generations in all your dwellings.



[9] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

[10] Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come

into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof,

then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the

priest:

The Feast of Weeks

Nu 28:26-31; Dt 16:9-12



15 (Ex 34:22; Lev 23:10-11) You shall count seven full weeks

from the next day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought

the sheaf bundle of the wave offering.

16 (Ac 2:1; Nu 28:26) You shall count fifty days to the day after

the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord.

17 (Lev 23:10; Ex 23:19) You shall bring out of your habitations

two wave loaves of two-tenths of an ephah.

They shall be of wheat flour, baked with leaven.

They are the first fruits to the Lord.

18 You shall offer with the bread seven lambs

without blemish of the first year, one bull, and two rams.

They shall be for a burnt offering to the Lord, with their grain offering

and their drink offerings, that is, a food offering made by fire,

of a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

19 (Nu 28:30) Then you shall sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering,

and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings.

20 (Dt 18:4) The priest shall wave them with the bread of the first fruits

for a wave offering before the Lord with the two lambs. They shall be holy

to the Lord for the priest.

21 (Lev 23:2; 23:4) You shall make a proclamation on the same day and shall

hold a holy convocation. You shall do no regular work. It shall be

a perpetual statute in all your dwellings throughout your generations.

you shall not reap your field up to the edge, nor shall you gather

any gleaning of your harvest. You shall leave them to the poor

and to the foreigner: I am the Lord your God.

The Feast of Trumpets

Nu 29:1-6

you shall have a sabbath, a memorial with the blowing of trumpets,

a holy convocation.

The Day of Atonement

to you, and you shall humble yourselves, and offer a food offering
