TARGIS
e1.jpg (6209 bytes)This revolutionary, metal-free restorative system can be employed for crown-and-bridge, inlay, and onlay cases. It features two components: Targis, a unique Ceromer material, and Vectris, a tooth colored, high strength fiber reinforced frame work material. Utilizing fiber technology combined with the Ceromer, the Targis System is primarily recommended for fabricating metal-free single unit as well as multiple-unit restorations. It can also be used as an overlay for metal frameworks for partial dentures and implant cases.

Utilizing Targis in Implant Cases

The use of Targis overlaid metal restorations is especially suitable for implant superstructures where esthetics, wear compatibility, and function are of prime importance and critical to long-term success. In cases involving metal substructures, the Targis Ceromer material is bonded directly to the metal surface.

The introduction of leucite-reinforced, pressed ceramics has presented an entirely new selection of alternatives to traditional, metal supported ceramic restorations. This system is indicated for inlays, onlays, crowns as well as three-unit bridges. IPS Empress 2 restorations have proven to withstand long-term function and provide patients with durable and highly aesthetic results. Another distinct advantage of IPS Empress 2 is the wear compatibility and thus the ability to re-establish proper canine disclusion and anterior guidance without abrading the opposing dentition. This has been a concern when utilizing conventional porcelains.
