Dr. Gardiner is certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a screener for SMPBC. He supplemented his specialist training with a Fellowship at the University of Toronto, focusing on breast and body imaging. He also completed the Breast Imaging program at the Harvard Medical School Department of Continuing Education. Dr. Gardiner has co-published articles for scientific journals.

Dr. Gardiner is also a coach for Abreast in a Boat, an internationally renowned team of women living with breast cancer who compete in dragon boat races to raise breast cancer awareness.

At an earlier point in his life, he was awarded the Duke of Edinburgh Award by Prince Philip for 'Outstanding Achievement'.
