- The building should be enclosed with all windows and doors in place.
- All concrete, masonry, drywall, ceramic, painting (except final coat of paint on base boards) should be completed prior to installation. This will allow adequate drying time before continuing.
- Basement & crawl spaces must be dry and ventilated. Crawl spaces must be a minimum of 18" from the ground to the bottom of the joists. There should be a ground cover of at least a 6 mil and up to a 20 mil polyethylene film overlapped 6" and sealed with a moisture resident tape. For adequate cross ventilation at least two vents should be open year round. Total vent openings should be 1.5% of the surface area of the crawl space. For example (1000 sq ft = a total of 15 sq ft vent openings)
- Make sure the building is maintained at a normal operating temperature of 21o Celsius and the correct humidity level of about 40% for a minimum of one week prior to delivery of wood, as well as for the wood's ACCLIMATIZATION period.
- The job site should have a consistent room temperature of 16o to 24o Celsius and humidity of 35% to 55% for the ACCLIMATIZATION period.
- Exterior grading should be complete and offering a minimum drop of 3" over 10' to allow for drainage
