Access Canada

Accommodating Seniors and People with Disabilities.

AHLA Program Established: 1994
AHLA Contact:Bill Fowler
Current Program Participation: 90

As baby boomers retire, mature visitors and visitors with physical disabilities will be part of one of the largest growing markets over the next 20 years.

This national program is structured to cover four types of disability: mobility, agility, vision and hearing. A complete video package provides on-site staff training for all levels. The standards address the levels of disability from mild to severe and are designed to attract and meet the needs of a growing traveling public.

For active seniors and people with minor disabilities

For seniors and people with moderate disabilities

For people with more severe agility, hearing, mobility
and vision disabilities and/or wheelchair users.

  For people with severe disabilities

Access Canada is intended to:

  • Satisfy the needs of our aging population as well as the needs of the growing number of travelers with disabilities
  • Improve service standards for guest safety and comfort levels
  • Increase the number of new and repeat guests
  • Promote universal design by decreasing physical barriers
  • Decrease barriers to service and your property's liability
  • Support your property and staff during the implementation of the program
